The Greatest Canadian

In this project, each of us will learn about a famous Canadian and research their contributions. You can see a list of Canadians here. After choosing a person to study, there are some vocabulary words, a biography, and some follow up questions. Upon finishing this, you will do your own further research about the Canadian. You will also need to pick out a story from their life to present to everyone else. You can bring a study card with you with details of your person's life. It is not a speech, but more of a conversation.

In the human library part of this project, a few Canadians will present each day. They will sit at a table around the room, while the "readers" go around and meet them. Time will go by very quickly, so keep that in mind. The readers will also answer three premade questions from the storyteller. We will take up the answers at the end of class.

In our review and follow up lesson, we will work in groups to decide on a top ten list of famous Canadians. We will also discuss the pros and cons of using this style of teaching.
